Miami

After spending our days in crazy theme parks in Orlando we were looking forward to a more chilled out time in Miami on the beach. We got to the hotel which is on a little island called North bay village in between Miami beach and the Miami main land. We got a quick take away pizza to eat at the hotel room before we headed out for a drive to the beach. This drive was our first real experience with Miami traffic. Think southern european driving on narrow roads and people just walking out and stopping on the street and you will get the picture. It was a stressful experience compared to what we had been used to. Since it was late evening we just took some pictures and walked around the restaurants and bars on the strip. The area along the beach reminded us of a party resort for tourists somwhere in Spain or something similar. Since a big part of the population is Spanish in Miami I guess it's not strange that we got this feeling about the place. The bars where quite expensive and they served drinks that attracts the party enthusiastic tourists. It kind of felt like a tourist trap.

The second day we spent at the beach and in the evening we went out for some drinks. As I mentioned earlier the drinks attracted tourists and us nontheless. We had a massive margarita with two up side down Coronas dipped into it. That was however probably the only good drink there. We ended our night with some fries and some revolting rocket fuel at Johnny rockets. The other three days we just hung out buy the beach and the hotel pool. We also had some nice meals like at a Cuban food market where the portions were big enough for five. There is a lot of rice and beans here in the south of Florida. They also often serve something called plantains (kind of like a banana) with your meal that is very nice.

More photos will be uploaded soon. We haven't had access to the Internet in the last 3 days so that's why the blog has been quiet.
