Santa Fe, Kasha-Katuwe tent rocks national monument, and Bandelier Cliff Dwellings

We started the day by taking a two hour hike in Kasha-Katuwe tent rocks national monument. This place was really beautiful and the hike did not feel as strenious as I thought it would. It was steep at certain places but the view at the top was truly worth the effort. On the way up we were surrounded by these crazy formations, rocks that looked like tents or tipis, created by sand and wind. The sun was beaming the whole time and the sky was completely cloudfree which made the hike even better.

After the hike we headed towards Santa Fe. We started by looking for an outlet where I could buy myself some new shoes, since my old ones stank of, well, feet. But when it started raining we decided to head to the hotel and chill out the rest of the day. The hotel was beautifully built in a traditional mud house style, although slightly more modern, iconic to Santa fe. We had a dinner at the hotel bar and planned our adventures for the next day. This evening I also got a picture of an ultrasound sent to me from my dear friend Emma, letting me know she will have a baby in December. I was smiling the rest of the trip because of these great news!

The next day we headed into downton Santa Fe to have breakfast and do some sightseeing. This small and cozy city is really beautiful, especially the mud buildings, and it felt very calm even though there was a big market going on in town. We had a walk around the small little shops, that were mostly selling art, and took some pictures.

Later on we headed towards Bandelier National Monument. These cliff dwellings used to be the homes of the local Indian population. We got to climb up the ladders into the caves, that had been carved by hand into the soft mountain wall. The caves were then smoked in order to become stabilized. No one lives here anymore though, and I can kind of understand why.
