Finally in L to the A and the last days of our trip are counted.
I'm going to create one post for each day so the adventure doesn't end too
abruptly. It almost feels like I'm still on this trip when I'm writing about it
and I'm not quite ready to let it go just yet. So let us suck on this caramel
(a saying translated directly from Swedish) for a little while longer. We
stayed at another Holiday Inn this time, which felt okay since it was the last,
close to LAX for practical reasons. It also turned out, as we discovered while
walking to a nearby Mexican restaurant, that the Escape Campervan rental
company (where we had to return our van on the last day) was just two blocks
away from the hotel. Very convenient! On the first day Josh got up really early
in order to get to the Chinese embassy and hopefully get his visa this time. He
succeeded and came back just as I was gonna take a dip in the hotel pool. We
decided to go for breakfast in Los Feliz instead so, after almost going mental
at our GPS for not taking us on the least trafficked route, we arrived at a
place called Home Restaurant that
served really good breakfast and had lots of options. At the table next to us
sat two older ladies talking about having a tequila shot (at 11 am) and one of
them said she had a bottle in her car. They were completely serious and even
asked the waiter for a shot, to which the waiter asked when he had taken their
full order: "You weren't really serious about the shot were you?".
One of the ladies replied that they were. Welcome to L.A!
The remaining part of the day was spent in one of the vintage
stores (on my request) called Squaresville (but since I didn’t find anything it was a pretty short visit) before heading
towards the closest Target to get ourselves some suitcases. Since L.A. is
pretty big and it takes more than a while to get from A to B the clock had
turned dinner time before we knew it so we headed back to the hotel to order pizza and watch the
latest episode of Sons of Anarchy. A good day even though we didn’t do much, but
when you’re in L.A. it’s almost impossible to have a bad day.
