Tuesday was boat ride day when we got to see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty up close. Unfortunately you couldn't hop off on the islands since they are closed due to hurricane Sandy and will reopen on the 4th of July. It was too bad since both of us really wanted to go Ellis Island, but just seeing it up close was still amazing. We'll have to go another time to see the records and the place where the immigrants first came to America, scared that they wouldn't be let in to the country after weeks or months on the sea.
After the boat ride we walked across Brooklyn bridge over to Brooklyn. The walk on the bridge was long and hot, and Josh who is scared of heights managed to keep himself together even during the parts where you could see the ground between the wooden floorboards. On the other side of the Hudson we walked in the nice parks that are just by the water. From here you can see the skyline of the south east side of Manhattan. This also seems to be a popular site for Weddings since we saw at least three of them at this site. For lunch we had pizza (again) in a place near the parks. This pizza was even better than the one we had the night before.
In the evening we were exhausted by all the walking we had managed to do again, even though we said we wouldn't, so we had a drink in the hotel bar then got some snacks that we ate in the hotel room.
