The Everglades and Cape Coral

On our way from Key West we got stuck in traffic for about an hour. This made us late to our next stop, the Everglades. However, we still had time to explore some of the areas and trails and got to see more alligators than we wanted. In one area there were about five alligators just on the side of the path, so they could easily get a bite of a human if they really wanted to. Luckily there were plenty of other food sources there for them so they normally leave humans alone, unless you provoke them. Alligators are actually not just looking to bite humans, they look for easy pray since they need to restore their energy balance quickly. I must admit it was still a little bit scary and it felt like you had to be on your guard the whole in case there was something in the bushes. The Everglades also have black panthers, which surprised me, however we never got to see one (maybe for the best).

In the evening we had decided to sleep at a rest area/welcome center for the night. This area is basically a big parking lot with a building with information about the area (this particular one was in the Evereglades), restrooms, and vending machines. They also have a security guard making it feel safer. Even though you can sleep at these places it felt like we were doing something we shouldn't. However, there were alot of cars there and we managed to get a good nights sleep.

The next day we headed to Cape Coral where we had booked a campsite for the next night. On the way we stopped at a place called Cracker barrel old store for breakfast. we had driven past it several tomes before but thought it was a furniture shop since they have a bunch of swing chairs on the porch outside. We were definitely not disappointed with this place since they had a big breakfast selection and it tasted like home made. This will be our go to place from now on when we are on the road early in the morning. At the campground we spent a couple of hours in the pool because of the heat, did some laundry and had dinner at a really cool place called Bubba's Roadhouse and saloon.
